The existing construction is reviewed before the price is confirmed because access, trim, foam condition and attachment methods can change the labor required.
Foam, Padding and Seat Support
Worn dining seats often need more than new fabric. Depending on the condition and style, the work may include replacement foam, new Dacron, rebuilt edge padding or corrections to the seat profile. Loose joints, damaged frames, cane, wood refinishing and structural repairs are separate services and are included only when specifically quoted.
For barstools and benches, the intended use helps determine the appropriate foam and material. Residential seating may prioritize comfort and appearance, while frequently used dining areas may benefit from firmer support and easier-to-clean fabric or vinyl.
Fabric Selection and Pattern Placement
Solid fabrics usually require less material than stripes, plaids or large repeats. Pattern centering and matching can increase yardage and labor. Client-provided fabric must be suitable for upholstery and for the intended use; the client is responsible for material purchased from another source.
